FREEZE-DRIED RAW OVERVIEW

Tucker's is a family-owned company; we make all our products in our own USDA facilities in Southeastern Wisconsin. We take a human food approach using edible ingredients and human food processes in the production of our products. Understanding retail and designing products around their needs is one of our top priorities. Learn more about what makes Tucker's Freeze-Dried Raw Formulas unique!

Freeze-Dried Raw Formulation

All of our freeze-dried raw diets are 95% meat, bone, and organ with 5% pumpkin. We take a zoological approach to our diets, formulating based upon the latest science for carnivores. Limiting our diets to less than 5 primary ingredients, we offer full nutrition with high meat content.

Product Design

Our Freeze-Dried Raw Formulas use a unique "domino-like" shape and are designed to be a 3-in-1 product. Use these diets to feed, treat, or top a dog's food. The unique shape and size allows our diets to be the perfect fit for small or large breed dogs. We make portioning simple, 1 piece per pound. Our design allows for a larger amount of surface area which makes rehydration significantly faster than our competitors. These pieces will rehydrate in 2-3 minutes if left whole and almost instantly when crumbled.

Brick and Mortar-Focused

Built by brick and mortar, we remain loyal. This is why we focused on making a product with ecommerce protection. Our products are NOT available on Chewy.com and an iMAP policy for 3rd party sellers.

We focus on understanding retail as many brands today inundate their retail partners with skus. Designed to be a food, topper, or treat, we've focused on covering the greatest number of customers while staying conscious of a retailer's valuable shelf space.

Cutting Edge Probiotics for Safe Handling

At Tucker's, safety is very important for us. We want to be able to offer the safest products on the market at reasonable prices and with the highest quality ingredients possible. Incorporating cutting edge probiotics for safe handling allows us to offer a safe product without the need for high pressure processing (HPP) or irradiation.

What Are Probiotics?

Probiotics are live microorganisms which, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a healthy benefit on the host. In humans and pets, probiotics live in the digestive tract. There are a number of different beneficial species belonging to the genera Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and Enterococcus. Some species, such as Lactobacillus, live primarily in the small intestine, while others, such as Bifidobacterium, reside in the large intestine (colon). Probiotic products are products that contain live (viable) microorganisms (bacteria and/or yeast).

Why Use Probiotics in Pet Food?

In addition to the health benefits, Lactobacillus and other bacteria protect against foodborne illness by inhibiting or eliminating foodborne pathogens, including Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus cereus. This is attributed to pH as well as the production of antimicrobial bacteriocins by Lactobacillus that inhibit other competitive strains, including foodborne pathogens.

All pets can benefit from probiotics, which have been shown to aid in digestion and moderate the immune system. Probiotics product short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) which inhibit the growth and activity or harmful bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Clostridium perfringens, as well as providing other benefits to the intestines.

Probiotic strains known to benefit dogs include Enterococcus faecium (strain SF68), Bacillus coagulans, and Bifidobacterium animalis (strain AHC7), which have been shown to reduce the time for acute diarrhea to resolve in dogs. Certain strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus are documented in improving the frequency and quality of stools in sensitive dogs.

With pathogens, there are 3 key things they need in order to survive: 1) oxygen, 2) moisture and 3) a food source or environment. In the freeze-drying process, we remove most of the moisture from the product and then, by adding in probiotics, we inhibit the food source/environment from being suitable for bacteria to grow.
